On Tuesday, October 18, the Italian National Corps of Firemen organizes meetings with citizens and with schools. Starting from the historical memory of what happened, the aim is to learn more about the disasters that increasingly occur on the territory, so to create a collective consciousness of self-protection and proper behaviour in such situations.

The day opens at 9:00 am and is held in Piazza della Signoria, Piazza del Duomo (10:30, blessing of the Fire Brigade helmets by Cardinal Betori, Archbishop of Florence) and the former church of San Pier Scheraggio, at the Uffizi. The program foresees demonstrative booths and a series of thematic meetings.

The day closes at 19:30 with a concert of the National Fire Department Band at the Loggia dei Lanzi in Piazza della Signoria.

Wednesday morning (October 19) is devoted to the convention: “Flooding rescue: Technical Relief today in the face of climate changes” to be held in the Pazzi Chapel, next to the Basilica of Santa Croce.

The work will begin at 9:00 am and will end at 12:30.
